FIRST COMMUNION

If your child is Catholic and attends St . Joseph’s School, he or she will be instructed in preparation for First Communion in the second grade. Since the Church requires that children receiving First Communion must have confessed their sins beforehand, reception of the sacrament of reconciliation (confession) precedes the reception of First Communion. Both events are scheduled by the school. First confession usually occurs in Lent and First Communion in late April or early May.

If your child does not attend our school, please contact the pastor, preferably in the fall, about the possibility of private instruction in preparation for First Communion at the Easter Vigil.
