Dear Parishioners,
Our parish is pleased to welcome Fr. Sandry Matondo, a priest of the Archdiocese of Brazzaville, Congo, who will be staying as a guest at our rectory this Fall. Fr. Sandry is in New York pursuing academic enrichment. He will be helping out with Masses at the parish during his stay. Welcome Fr. Sandry!
While Fr. Sandry is here he will help with the distribution of Holy Communion at our Sunday Masses. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will not assist the priest at Masses as there are now two priests to handle this duty.
Mark your calendars: the parish will offer a Farewell Party for Fr. Boniface Ramsey on Saturday October 19 th . Fr. Boniface will celebrate the 4 PM Mass. Following the Mass there will be a reception in the school auditorium. More detail to follow.
Some parishioners have asked about the absence during Mass of the invitation by the priest “Let us offer the sign of peace” before we pray the “Lamb of God”. This invitation is optional at Mass. I prefer not to make use of it to help foster a more recollected spirit in preparation for the distribution of Holy Communion. You are welcome, however, to exchange a sign of peace if you so choose.
If you would like to enroll your child in the parish CCD-Religious Education Program please call St. Ignatius Loyola: 212-288-3588. St. Joseph and St.
Ignatius Loyola conduct a joint CCD program with classes being held at both parishes.
If you know of any homebound parishioner who would like to receive Holy Communion, please contact the rectory office.
God bless you!
Fr. Gerald E. Murray
