The Legion of Mary is the largest lay apostolic association of Catholics with over 3 million active members (men and women alike) that serve the Church and their neighbor on a voluntary basis in approximately 170 countries. The first meeting of the Legion of Mary took place in Dublin, Ireland on September 7, 1921. The works of the Legion at St. Joseph’s include: visiting homes, setting up a Book-Barrow (a portable pamphlet rack with material on the Mass, the Sacraments and information about the parish), Pilgrim Virgin Home Visitation Program (upon request, a small statue of Our Lady of Fatima is brought to a home and left for a week; prayers are recited with that family during both visits) and bringing the Eucharist to the homebound. A variety of other works may also be performed. All work is always done in pairs.
The Legion of Mary meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Rectory.
All are welcome.
